Welcome to the UTMB BSM website. As you know, on September 11, 2008, Hurricane Ike, the third most destructive hurricane to ever make landfall in the United States, hit almost directly on Galveston Island.  The effects of the hurricane were devastating and the recovery process has been slow and difficult.

The Baptist Student Ministry building, located just steps away from the UTMB campus, sustained significant damage.  The lower floor had over 4' of flooding and damage to the roof resulted in water flooding the second floor.  The result is that the building needed to be almost totally gutted, with only the bathroom area of the second floor spared major damage. 

We are now in the process of renovating and need your help.  For many years this ministry has played a significant role in the UTMB community.  You can be a part of making sure that the ministry has a future.  Would you consider a gift towards the renovation?  The exciting news is that we are using this as an opportunity to do some remodeling, which will make the building even more "student friendly", including a coffee bar area, new colors, new furnishings and design. The challenge is that we are in need of approximately $60,000 to make these renovations possible.  That low cost is only possible because of the generous contributions of several work teams who have already given of their time and talents and are planning to do so throughout the renovation process.
